Expand Community Arts Alliance
Three companies. One mission: to ignite community dialogue through art.
The Expand Community Arts Alliance is a nationally recognized group of three arts organizations in Glenview, IL. Each one has its own focus. Together, they give artists a place to train, perform, create and lead, from their first class to their professional career.
We believe art does more than entertain. It builds connection, compassion and empathy, and it can catalyze social change. Every Alliance company shares that purpose. We pursue it through partnerships with diverse community organizations, by raising awareness, and by developing the next generation of artistic leaders.
Our Companies
The Dance and Music Academy (DMA)
Dance and music training for all ages, and home to our Fireflies and Kindle programs: Young Actors Workshop, Broadway Bound Company, summer musical theatre camps, jazz, theatrical dance, tap and private music lessons.
The Trifecta Dance Collective (TDC)
A professional contemporary dance company built on three pillars: Engage, Empower and Expand. TDC creates original work rooted in real human stories, with a pre-professional company (TDC3) and a second company for dancers moving into professional careers (TDC2). Including Metamorphosis; Fearless Evolution, a multi-day dance experience in Chicago for grades 3–12, with master classes, seminars, showcases at the Museum of Contemporary Art, scholarships and the Collective Contemporary Awards.
Phosphorescent Theatrical Productions
A collaborative theatre hub where pre-professional students work alongside established Chicago artists. It offers youth cabarets, semi-professional productions, world premieres, and studio space for creators developing new work.
How the Alliance Works Together
Because our companies share a home, a faculty and a mission, artists can move between them as they grow:
- Train. Build technique and confidence in dance, music and theatre.
- Perform. Step onto the stage in cabarets, company performances and semi-professional productions alongside working professionals.
- Create. Develop original work in our black box and studios, with mentorship from established artists.
- Lead. Grow into Future Leaders, assistant teachers, choreographers and directors who carry the work forward.
In the Community
Alliance performances regularly give back. Proceeds from our Inner Light Youth Cabarets go to charities the performers choose, and our collaborations, like the Phosphorescent / Beautiful City Project evening, raise funds for local nonprofits.
Leadership
